A rigorous exploration of form and materiality, this project leverages structural engineering to create architectural drama. The design is immediately defined by the juxtaposition of three distinct material palettes: industrial weathered steel, natural river stone, and warm, dark timber.

The primary challenge was to create a sense of lightness within a heavy material framework. We achieved this through a significant structural cantilever. The upper gable volume—wrapped in dark wood louvers for passive climate control—projects out to shelter the entry sequence below. This feat of engineering allows the parking and arrival area to feel open and unobstructed, eliminating the need for visible supporting columns.

The Corten steel perimeter walls were chosen for their durability and their ability to evolve over time, their rusted patina harmonizing with the lush surrounding landscape. This residence is proof that robust materials, when balanced correctly, can create an incredibly sophisticated and livable modern home.
